The story behind the strategist.
Cuong Dang is a founder, investor, and former CEO of Forbes Vietnam. He operates at the intersection of capital, leadership, and structural change in Southeast Asia. This site is his intellectual home base — where ideas, observations, and strategies are shared publicly for the first time.
Origin
I began in tech and UX in the U.S., building software and user-centered products. I returned to Vietnam to lead the launch of Forbes Vietnam, where I helped shape a new era of business media. From there, I led the Vietnam deal that brought Enterprise Rent-A-Car to Southeast Asia, launched logistics and advisory businesses, and built bridges between international partners and Vietnam’s next-generation leaders.
What I do
Today, I run multiple ventures under The Rēsu Company (TRC), including Rēsu Consulting and Capital Advisory (RCCA), Vietnam Vanguard, Rēsu Capital, and Safelane. I advise founders, lead strategic investments through syndicates, and help both global capital and local operators navigate what it really takes to scale in this region.
I also write Inside the Shift — a series for those who want to understand Southeast Asia through strategy, not speculation.
What I believe
Southeast Asia isn’t just growing — it’s restructuring. But real understanding hasn’t caught up to the pace of money or media. To operate here well, you need more than a market map. You need cultural fluency, capital context, and structural perspective.
That’s what I try to offer in everything I build, write, or lead.
